Bio
Angela studied in Swansea Institute specialising in Fine Art Printmaking and Surface Pattern. After graduating she took on a role of Artist in Residence in the printmaking department and it was at this time she further developed her skills and passion in print.
Angela’s prints are limited edition linocut and monotypes. Her designs are often made up of dynamic yet simple line, block shape and pattern, and placed with strong colour combinations. Layering and transparencies are also a constant.
Having spent her childhood in Scotland and having travelled around Norway and Sweden, Angela is drawn to the landscape of the north; the piercing cold and grey skies along with the ambience and the mystery that a mountain evokes has become somewhat of an obsession. Trees and land feature but are mere shadows and shape. A small house is initially included for scale but primarily exploring ideals of home and home as a sense of place. Her prints are as much a celebration of nature and a fondness of land.
Angela uses linocut to depict other themes of plants, words and colour.
Alongside her practise Angela occasionally takes on commissions and regularly teaches print at the Bath Artist Printmakers.
